Telescopic Fishing Rod
Every angler should have a telescopic fishing rod in his arsenal. At some time or another you will find yourself in a situation where you just can’t fit your favourite 10 foot saltwater fishing rod into your vehicle. For example when you’ve packed the car for holidays is there room for that monster fishing rod favourite of yours? More often than not the answer is no. This is where a telescopic fishing rod comes into action!
The telescopic fishing rod gives you the option of packing light and small but still with the opportunity to fish when the opportunity is there. Imagine you’ve arrived at your holiday destination, some people staying next door to you arrive home with a stack of freshly caught fish. Naturally you are anxious to get out there and take home your own bag limit – but you couldn’t fit your rod in the car.
Having a telescopic fishing rod is the answer to almost everyone anglers need to ‘be prepared’. Most anglers know that the real fishing hot spots are the area’s that aren’t fished very often, this usually requires a bit of travelling however. You may go for a hike and even canoe down a river to get to your fishing destination, but that just isn’t possible with that ten foot fishing rod. The telescopic fishing rod give you the opportunity to pack light and small with the bonus of being able to fish where and when you want.
Typically a telescopic fishing rod will contain a number of sections that collapse into one another – thus the telescopic name. They are made in both fiberglass and graphite like most normal fishing rods. Of course this type of rod cannot be as strong as your normal rod. To compensate most manufacturers fit a special eye to each section of the telescopic rod which adds strength to the end of the rod when fully extended. Remarkably you will find casting and reeling easy and comfortable. Perhaps the best thing about the rod is when collapsed they are generally only a foot long which makes it so easy to pack.
Of course a single piece fishing rod is still your ultimate choice when going fishing, particularly in saltwater. But there are times when you just can’t pack one as we’ve discussed. The telescopic fishing rod in this scenario is an excellent option and best of all they aren’t too expensive.
